Grant & Loan Awards: Jones County

Jones County

Equity Fund: $500,000

Awarded: 06/11/2008

Applicant: Jones County, Development Authority of

Equity funds to assist with a 4-lane divided median entrance road that will extend 5,000 linear feet into the new Georgia Regional Industrial Park as well as signage for the new Park – a 962-acre industrial park in the southern tip of Jones County. The Park is strategically located near four (4) neighboring counties: Baldwin, Bibb, Twiggs, and Wilkinson. The entrance road will be along State Route 57 – The Fall Line Freeway. Currently, the only accessible roadways are old logging roads and are unsuitable for regular traffic. A major advantage is the Park’s close proximity to Norfolk Southern Railroad which leads directly to the Ports of Brunswick and Savannah and runs along the north side of the Park. The Authority has invested over $3.4 million to-date, and Equity funds are needed to move forward with Phase I of a 4-phase project to develop this large industrial park.

Total Budgeted Project Cost: $3,970,460
