GFCI is an electrical outlet device that prevents severe or fatal electric shocks that occur around water and are often used in bathrooms and kitchens. Presently, there are only four GFCI manufacturers in the world, representing a $2 billion industry. In addition, China is Georgia’s fifth-largest trading partner, with nearly $650 million in goods exported annually and roughly two-thirds of all inbound containers at the Port of Savannah are from China. This project will create 240 jobs in two years and $30 million in private investment. The competition for this project was South Carolina, Ohio and Utah.
