EDGE grant funds of $1,250,000 will be used to assist with the location of Mage Solar USA, LLC. Mage Solar, part of the globally operating MAGE GROUP, plans to establish the company’s North American headquarters and production facility for photovoltaic modules in Dublin. As of 2010, solar photovoltaics generates electricity in more than 100 countries and, while yet comprising a tiny fraction of the total global power-generating capacity from all sources, is the fastest growing power-generation technology in the world. Mage Solar also plans to build an academy for solar education to promote solid solar knowledge and training in the industry. Due to the great potential of the American continent and increasing demand, the production of MAGE POWERTEC PLUS Modules is scheduled for first quarter 2011. The modules, produced from high-quality aluminum within the MAGE GROUP, attach to asphalt shingles, roof tiles, slate, shake, corrugated, standing seam or trapezoidal metal roofs. Mage Solar will occupy an existing 190,600 SF facility that is situated on approximately 19 acres in the Dublin Industrial District that was formerly occupied by Rockwell Automation.
Equity funds for the construction of a truck entrance and a 3,900 foot industrial access road at their 255-acre Industrial Park along Interstate 16 in Laurens County. The rural city of Dublin and Laurens County are located in middle Georgia halfway between Atlanta and Savannah. Laurens County is a hub for an 11-county area that relies on it for employment, educational, medical, recreational, cultural and shopping opportunities. The industrial park has all utilities in place; however, the current access road is insufficient to show the entire site to potential prospects. The proposed road, which will allow access and usage to the entire site, has been fully engineered to industrial standards, and can be constructed immediately upon bidding the project. DA has ownership of the land and has designed the site for maximum benefit to the community and region. The site will be vital for returning jobs lost in Middle Georgia, and the access road will aide in the recruitment of new companies to the region.
BRIDGE funds to assist with the cost of a feasibility study to design and engineer a high speed wireless broadband network between the City of Dublin and the Treutlen County Industrial Park. This network link will connect the new Range Fuels Plant located in the Treutlen County Industrial Park in Soperton to the City of Dublin’s network data center. The objective of the feasibility study is to provide immediate broadband service to Range Fuels’ new bio-fuels plant currently under construction in Soperton. It is essential that Range Fuels have access to a broadband width that will allow for real-time transmission of data from its plant in Treutlen County to its headquarters in Denver, Colorado. Currently, the availability of this essential wireless capability through the local telephone operator, PlantTel, in Treutlen County is non-existent. However, the City of Dublin is only 20 miles away from the plant’s new facility and has almost unlimited capacity to the largest internet connections in the Southeast. This foundation could potentialy benefit a multi-county area.
