Grant & Loan Awards: Bulloch County
Equity funds to make infrastructure improvements (water,sewer, professional services) to Phase II of the Gateway Regional Industrial Park which consists of 294 developable acres in Statesboro. This park proves to be an employment center for the region with 41% of the workforce that commute from outside of Bulloch County. With this addition, the park will increase from 678 buildable acres to 972 acres. Phase I of the park only has 105 acres that remain to be developed. Major employers that reside in Phase I of the park include Walmart, Briggs & Stratton and Viracon. Phase I of the industrial park provides employement to approximately 2,200 individuals. It is estimated that Phase II will have the capacity to employ as many as 1,100 additional jobs. The Gateway Regional Industrial Park, located six miles from Interstate 16, has been very successful and the expansion will likely result in significant job creation.
E 9-1-1 funds to assist Candler County, through an Intergovernmental Agreement which establishes a regional system that includes Bulloch County, Evans County and Candler County and serviced through Bulloch County, the one-time start up costs to establish E 9-1-1 service. Total cost of this project is $1,218,117. The E 9-1-1 funds would be used to assist in the purchase of equipment as well as mapping and addressing costs to serve the 9,577 residents of Candler County. E 9-1-1 calls from Candler County will be received at the Bulloch County Emergency Answering Center in Statesboro and then dispatched to the various emergency and law enforcement agencies in Candler County.
