Equity funds for site improvements at Spence Field, a 1600-acre former WW II airbase and home of the annual Sunbelt Agricultural Expo. The Expo is a major regional event attracting some 200,000 attendees and 1,200 exhibitors. An economic impact estimated that Spence Field activities (of which the Expo is the largest) had a $10 million regional impact in terms of expenditures in the 20-county region. The needed improvements include the construction of a safe, reliable and weatherproof electrical system for the exhibit area which would meet National Electric Code requirements. Due the growth of Sunbelt Expo over the last 28 years, the exhibit area has grown to include some 300-400 service poles which are prone to failure, inconveniencing exhibitors at critical times. The new system would provide weatherproof 200 amp panel boxes, circuit breakers and electrical receptacles and eliminate many of the service poles.
