The Burson Center

The Burson Center

In December 2003 OneGeorgia awarded a grant of $500,000 to rehabilitate and furnish a mixed-use, small business incubator to help foster entrepreneurial development. The 24,454 SF facility selected for the incubator is located in the Carrollton Industrial Park on a six-acre site. Approximately 75% of the facility would be oriented to offices and suited to a wide range of tenants, ranging from blue-collar service industries to technology-oriented firms. The remainder of the facility would accommodate light-manufacturing concerns. The incubator will serve 14 counties in western Georgia and be located within the West Carrolton State Enterprise Zone. This project involves strong public participation such as partnering with Carroll Tomorrow, who will provide ongoing marketing and management. In addition, Georgia Tech’s Economic Development Institute will locate their regional office directly in the incubator.

The Burson Center opened July 5, 2006, at a total cost of $2.4M, and as of February 2008, is at 100% capacity with a Phase II expansion in the planning stages. The Burson Center is currently serving five west Georgia counties in a variety of business sectors: Arts & Entertainment, Technology, Service/Professional, Construction, Transportation and Logistics. Client private investment is at $3.2M boasting the creation of 63 new jobs and three graduates.
