EDGE funds to assist with the purchase of 25.59 acres and improvements to the existing building (a.k.a. General Manufactured Housing Property in the Appling Industrial Park.) The Authority has applied on behalf of Contender Boats, Inc., a manufacturer of semi-custom sport fishing boats that plans to occupy an existing 135,000 SF facility and make improvements to accommodate boat manufacturing. It's current 75,000 facility in Homestead, FL, cannot meet the company's projected growth. The facility will become its future headquarters. This project will create 234 new jobs initially growing to 424 jobs in five years. Private investment is projected to be $10.7 million. This project is in competition with South Carolina.
