Description:
Equity funds to renovate the Greensboro Gymnasium into a Cultural Center for the community known as “Festival Hall.†The center will be used as a rental venue to bring live music and cultural events to the Greensboro community and surrounding area by drawing tourists into the Region. Top quality performances will be held for a regional audience including Greene, Morgan and Putnam counties. The Greensboro Auditorium was originally built in 1939. In 2006, the County deeded the building to the Authority for the purpose of creating the cultural center. The Greensboro Downtown Development Authority is partnering with Linger Longer Development Company (LLDS is parent of Reynolds Plantation) and Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS). Local investment: Greensboro Foundation $500,000; LLDS $500,000; OPAS $500,000; City/DDA $1,126,939; and Farmers Bank will finance a $586,000 funding shortfall.
