Description:
Equity funds to assist with improvements to the City of Cornelia's wastewater treatment plant to accommodate the expansion of Fieldale Farms, Inc., a poultry processing plant. Currently, the City of Cornelia cannot adequately process wastewater to accommodate the expansion which could result in the relocation of Fieldale Farms altogether and the loss of 1,500 jobs. In addition, these improvements will allow Fieldale Farms to increase production at their Gainesville plant resulting in the creation of 200 new jobs. Fieldale Farms, a multi-faceted poultry processing integrator with locations in Habersham, Hall, Stephens and Franklin Counties, qualifies as a regional employer with over 4,700 jobs in these four counties.
