Equity funds to assist with sewer improvements to serve a blighted 7.3-acre tract slated for commercial development along State Route 365 in Baldwin, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and heavily dependent on tourism. Contingent upon adequate sewer infrastructure, the anchor tenant has committed to invest over $1.7 million to construct a 2,000 square-foot upscale fast-food restaurant, creating 30 new jobs with excellent fringe benefits. The infrastructure improvements, consisting of the extension of a 3,500 LF 8†gravity sewer line, are expected to spur additional private investment and job creation in a part of the state where tourism and the hospitality industry are significant economic drivers.
