Description:
Equity grant funds will be used to assist with water, gas and road infrastructure improvements to support the location of a 1,150-bed men’s detention center which the Corrections Corporation of American (CCA) plans to construct and operate outside of the City of Millen in unincorporated Jenkins County pursuant to a contractual award by the Georgia Department of Corrections. The existing infrastructure in Jenkins County is inadequate to meet the needs of a new correctional facility. Equity funds will be used to assist with the construction of a 500,000 gallon elevated water tank to generate the required pressure for meeting peak demands, the extension of the City’s gas line 4,000 feet and the construction of an access road to the site.
