Senator Greg Goggans Senate District 7

Greg Goggans was first elected to the Georgia State Senate from the 7th District in 2004. Senator Goggans is a Republican, representing the citizens of Atkinson, Bacon, Berrien, Clinch, Coffee, Echols, Lanier, Pierce and Ware counties and portions of Cook County.

Senator Goggans is currently serving as vice chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, secretary of the Health and Human Services Committee, chairman of the Appropriations Committee. He also serves as a member of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Finance, Transportation and Government Oversight, and One Georgia Authority Oversight Committees.

Senator Goggans was born and raised in South Georgia; he is a proud graduate of our public schools, ABAC and the University of Georgia. He received his orthodontist and dental training education from the Medical College of Georgia and orthodontic specialty training from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Goggans has operated a successful practice in Coffee County since 1981. He has served as vice-chairman of the Coffee Regional Hospital Health Care Board, chairman of the Coffee Regional Hospital Finance Board, and secretary/treasurer of the Southwestern District Dental Association.

Senator Goggans is a leader in his community and a dedicated volunteer. He brings a wide array of civic experience to the Georgia Senate. He has been recognized numerous times for his leadership to the community. Some of these honors include - Rotarian of the Year, Chamber of Commerce Small Businessman of the Year and Will Watt Fellows. He serves as one of the owners and directors of the Douglas National Bank.

Senator Goggans and his wife Jane have been married for 25 years and have four children. He and his family belong to First Baptist Church of Douglas. He is known throughout his community and has received recognition for his service to others. He received the Exchange Book of Club Golden Deeds Award and the Loving, Caring, Sharing Award from the Georgia Foster Parents Association. He is a tireless volunteer for many good causes, including children’s summer camps, local athletic teams and church missionary work.
